Creating custom spaces unique to each client is an exciting and a very personal experience. Schmidke Construction and Contracting, or SCC, understands personal journeys as owner Joshua Schmidke built the business at a very young age out of hard work, earned knowledge, and high expectations.

First Generation | Gaining Knowledge Through the Trades

SCC was founded in 2001, but Joshua Schmidke’s journey began much earlier. As a child, he joined his father, a plumbing contractor, on job sites across the region. He apprenticed under experienced subcontractors and general contractors, gaining valuable skills in multiple trades. Over time, he earned his Journeyman plumbing license and developed a deep understanding of the building process. With nearly two decades of hands-on experience, Joshua entered the world of custom home building and completed his first custom home at just 24 years old.

Mastering the Industry 

In 2021, Joshua and his wife Brianne expanded their services by launching Properti Home Concierge. This offering supports clients after construction is complete, especially second-home owners in need of home watch and concierge services. It’s a natural extension of Schmidke Construction’s commitment to long-term care and custom client support.

Joshua also stays deeply involved in both the community and the building industry. He volunteers with local youth sports programs and actively participates in several professional associations. He is a member of the National Association of Home Builders, the NAHB Builder 20 club, the Home Builders Association of Southwestern Michigan where he served on the Board of Directors for nine years. As a small business leader, he is also part of the Sawyer Small Business Owners Group. He continues to be active in the industry with his finger on the pulse of the latest trends along with new state and federal building regulations affecting past, existing, and potential future clients. 

Family Legacy

Family is so important to Schmidke Construction. As a boutique custom home builder, we are able to focus on the lives of our clients and our team members while still delivering big project results. We celebrate with employee spouses, children, and furbabies. We get to impact surrounding communities together at fundraisers and events. You may even see the Schmidke kids on a jobsite learning how it all comes together or admiring design selections.
